Creating a Space for Foster Families to Speak Out

The foster care system is broken. Stand with us in the fight for justice, transparency, and reform.

Foster Truth NYC is a platform for foster parents, foster children, and foster agency workers to share accounts of the negligence, harassment, discrimination and retaliation at the hands of the foster care agencies contracted by the NYC Administration for Children's Services (ACS).

Foster Truth NYC aims to facilitate the creation of public "Do Not Recommend" list—a list of agencies that foster families and foster care workers advise prospective foster families to avoid.

The Problem

Foster parents are on the front lines, caring for vulnerable children daily. They are often the first to witness a foster agency’s neglect in the form of inadequate supervision of visitation, poor case management, refusal to provide necessary services, and harassment of foster children, families and birth parents.

Foster families who expose agency misconduct are often subjected to retaliation, harassment, intimidation, false allegations, arbitrary removal of the children in their care, or the closure of their homes.

Worse, these foster homes are commonly blacklisted by the offending agencies with a “Do Not Recommend” designation, removing these dedicated homes as resources for children in dire need.

Share Your Story

We provide an anonymous platform where you can safely submit your story of foster agency mismanagement, harassment, or retaliation.

We prioritize your privacy. You do not need to provide your personal details—only the details of the situation that you believe should be shared. Do not include any information that could identify you. Before publishing, we will review your story to ensure anonymity.

Name the foster agency. We encourage you to name the agency guilty of harassment, retaliation, or negligence in your case. Calling out specific agencies is crucial to holding them accountable and warning prospective foster families of their misconduct.

Get Involved. Whether you’re submitting a story, reading others’ accounts or helping spread awareness, you can help create change. We encourage visitors to engage by sharing their experiences and spreading the word.
